Junior Electrical Designer

Role:

- Contributor.

- Execute simple tasks.

Years of Experience:

- 0-5years.

Compensation:

- The total compensation package offers a competitive base salary, comprehensive benefits, RRSP contributions, and opportunities for performance-based bonuses.

Duties:

- Performs more detailed and developed design tasks (equipment selection and design, electrical distribution, life safety systems, lighting & controls) under general supervision.

- Applies practical engineering knowledge; references codes and standards more independently.

- May do moderate complexity calculations and participate in routine fieldwork, commissioning support, and project coordination.

- Assists project engineers with load calculations, and lighting calculations.

- Adheres to established engineering methods, codes, and standards under occasional guidance.

- May carry out site visits to verify conditions, coordinate minor construction issues, or assist in commissioning support tasks.

- Independently prepares field observation reports and distributes to clients with minor input of supervision.

- Reviews project progress and construction administration tasks.

- AutoCAD Drafting, excel worksheets and Adobe PDF work.

- Maintain professional office environment and conduct.

- Conducts oral and written communication with clients and contractors.

Recommendations, Decisions, and Commitments:

- Makes limited technical recommendations on straightforward problems.

- Decisions typically follow established guidelines, with less frequent oversight needed.

Supervision Received:

- Works with periodic review; some autonomy, but senior staff still guide critical decisions.

- Receives regular but not constant supervision.

- Work is checked in detail; technical guidance is readily available.

Leadership Authority:

- May provide guidance to entry level staff or coordinate a small portion of a project team.

- Developing mentoring and communication skills.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering.

- Often working towards P.Eng. designation.

- Eligible for registration with Professional Engineers Ontario in EIT program.

- Basic proficiency with codes, standards, and project workflows.
