INTERMEDIATE ELECTRICAL DESIGNER/ENGINEER

Role:
- Intermediate contributor.
- Deliver on small projects.
- Lead parts of large projects.
Years of Experience:
- 4-10 years.

Duties:
- Independently completes responsible moderately complex engineering assignments and tasks, applying a broad understanding of building system design (equipment selection and design, electrical distribution, life safety systems, lighting & controls).
- Integrates efficiency measures, controls, and coordinates with architects, structural and other consultants.
- Conducts moderately complex code and standard analysis with intent in application to projects.
- Analyzes moderately complex problems, validates calculations, and prepares detailed technical reports and specifications.
- Develops design solutions using standard methods and recognized codes, and begins to incorporate energy efficiency, sustainability considerations and cost / project control measures into designs.
- Works on moderately complex systems integration, coordinating between mechanical and electrical components.
- Participates in project planning, coordinates with architects and structural engineers, and ensures compliance with relevant building codes.
- Participate in continuous service and process improvement.
- Involved in many aspects of the business including support for estimating, business development, engineering, drafting and modeling services and customer support.
- Manages workload and sees tasks and projects from start through to completion.
- Manages customer requirements and prepares proposals for consideration using budgeting.
- AutoCAD Drafting, excel worksheets and Adobe PDF work.
- Representative in client meetings.
- Project management.
Recommendations, Decisions, and Commitments:
- Makes independent interpretations and decisions within established project scopes.
- Complex unusual, difficult or novel issues may be escalated to more senior staff.
Supervision:
- General guidance rather than close supervision.
- Performance evaluated on deliverables’ quality and timeliness.
- Mentoring from senior engineers is available for complex or unusual situations.
Leadership Authority:
- Provides technical guidance to junior staff, may oversee a small project team.
- Takes on early-stage project management responsibilities
- Possibly oversees a small project team working on a single aspect of a larger project.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- Holds P.Eng.
